Munich Airport relocated from the city district of Riem to the outlying Erdinger Moos on 17 May 1992 – and Franz-Josef-Strauss Airport has been writing aviation history ever since. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the airport, FMG organized a five-day series of events starting with a Staff Festival on 16 May 2012, which was attended by over 3,000 members of airport staff.

A host of musical acts including Crimson Veil, The Cuba Boarischen and Night Life also wowed audiences on 17 May 2012. The top act on both evenings was Dick Brave and the Backbeats. A rather different kind of highlight was provided by the world debut of the MetaTwistTower, now a institution for all visitors to MAC.

Appearances by Michael Mittermeier, the Champions League Final and a performance of Carmina Burana plus accompanying VIP events completed the programme. A thoroughly fitting way to celebrate the birthday of Munich Airport!
