A possible contender for the title of the F49 Final Competition of BMW‘s X1 social media concept! Two out of the four challenges were realized by DAMEGO GmbH for BMW China in partnership with Edelmann China.
Live streaming was used to transmit the challenges faced by the 20 Chinese competitors in Munich, Vienna and Sölden over to BMW’s branches in China, as a method of motivating employees there and boosting sales. The winner of the Final Competition was chosen based on the number of followers achieved and on their on-site performance.
In Vienna the task was to replay a movie scene. The fastest group played the scene in a live broadcast to China, while their rivals took the roles of extras, camera operators and directors. Despite having only minimum time to prepare, the amateur actors delivered very creditable performances!
In Sölden, the scene changed to the BMW Winter Technical Drive Center, where winter driving manoeuvres are learnt and tested in the various BMW models. An abseiling challenge down the snowy heights of the Rettenbachferner glacier presented the teams with a further challenge in their battle for victory.
The See Off Dinner with prizegiving ceremony was appropriately held in the ICE-Q Restaurant, towering high over Ötztal valley at a height of 3,048 metres – the location for “James Bond – Spectre” starring Daniel Craig. The restaurant opened its doors two weeks before its official opening for our guests from China, who clearly enjoyed the lavish winners’ party. The technology and cable car railway worked smoothly in tandem, enabling all the equipment to be brought up to the top in good time with the help of the railway and the snow groomers.
The weather – and ICE-Q Restaurant – were at their very best, smoothing the work of the setup team by allowing smooth transport and – even more important – presenting guests with breathtaking all-round panoramas of the Ötztal Alps and far beyond. The Ice-Q team fulfilled the guests’ every wish, and vivacious blonde singer Annabell Kay and her band, Street Live Family, got the audience on their feet and strutting their stuff.
The cable car railway then transported the happy winners and guests back to the valley.
